Donegal is a stunning part of Ireland with a magnificent rugged coastline, windswept peninsulas and miles of sandy beaches. Inland, the countryside is wild and unspoilt with winding roads leading past vistas of mountains, lakes, glens and woodlands.
There are several unspoilt beaches within easy reach of the cottage and the lighthouse at St. John's point, just to the south of the cottage, lies at the end of a wild and scenic peninsula.
The highest cliffs in Europe at Sleive League are easily accessible and the Maghera caves at the end of a long silver beach are well worth a visit.
Inland, the exhilarating peaks of the Blue Stach mountains and the lovely Glenveagh National Park are also within driving distance.
With its wonderful beaches, cliffs, lakes and mountains, this part of Donegal is unrivalled in its scenery.
